Montevideo High School: InfoCase Always-On – 11″ Cases

Background

In 2016, Montevideo High School was looking to start a one to one program in grades 8-12. Device protection was high on Chief Technology Officer, Scott Ripley’s list; especially since he was a one-man department. Scott knew that he needed a case that was going to prevent device breakage as much as possible, as well as a case that teachers and students could both agree on.

Challenge

After sitting down with a committee of teachers and students, there was an “overwhelming” positive response to the InfoCase always-on product. Scott chose the InfoCase Classmate Always-On 11” case to protect their devices. In the fall of 2016, nearly 500 Always-On cases were sent to Montevideo High School to start off the school year; the only problem was that the shoulder straps on the cases kept breaking.

Solution

Scott made a phone call to InfoCase K-12 Sales Representative, Danielle Carbonell, with whom he had been working with from the beginning of the project. “Danielle has been awesome to work with. She responds quickly and gets me what I need without any problem,” Scott stated often.

When it was time to expand the program to grades six and seven, Scott immediately contacted Danielle at InfoCase, with only one hesitation- the shoulder strap. Danielle reassured Scott that there were new connecting mechanisms that would help prevent the shoulder straps from breaking. Before the fall school year of 2017, Montevideo received 320 of the classic Always-On cases with new and improved shoulder straps.

As a leader in protective mobile accessories for K-12 for over 20 years, InfoCase worked closely with HISD to craft a customized case design to assure the students of HISD had minimal down time by reducing damages to their HP laptops. The always-on style case HISD chose for their students provides the ultimate protection because the laptop never has to leave the case. In addition to the protective case, Netsync constructed a team of 30 employees to visit HISD schools daily and manage HISD’s 60,000 deployed units.

Result

Already, Scott has said the new shoulder strap is doing much better than the previous version.
“When we collected the device at the end of the 2016-2017 school years, the cases held up great. It was very easy to tell what normal wear and tear looked like versus intentional damage. The devices looked great.”

Out of 486 Always-On cases the first year, exactly 29 of the 486 (6%) devices had damage that was not caused by manufacturer defect or intentional damage. So far, this 2017-2018 year has proven to have potentially less damage than the first month of school in 2016. Scott mentioned that with so few device damage claims last year, the school was able to keep the insurance cost to families at $30 for the year, with over 75% of the students participating in the insurance program.

“I’m a HUGE fan on your cases. Kudos to Danielle and the InfoCase team for all that they did for our program. It was worth every penny and because of InfoCase we can keep cost to families low.”
