East Allen County Schools: Case Study with InfoCase Always-On for iPads

Background

East Allen County Schools in Indiana strives to inspire students and encourages students that if they dream it, they can do it. That motivation also applied to the school district when they were faced with the challenge of starting a one to one program. Beginning in 2012, EACS provided 9,600 students and 730 staff members, throughout 14 schools, with Apple iPad devices.

Challenge

With over 95% of 7th-12th graders taking the iPad devices home with them in the 2016-2017 school year, along with staff members, EACS was looking for a durable case that would support the program’s growth, by minimizing device damage and “downtime”. With over 5,300 of the cases and devices needing to be prepped in the summer of 2016, just the size of implementing this project and accomplishing it during the small window of summer was a challenge that EACS was forced to face.

Solution

Keith Madsen, Director of Technology at EACS, knew the district would need iPad cases that would provide the best protection available, didn’t retain household smells, and had a great magnetic closure feature. Keith received a free sample of the InfoCase Always-On Case for iPads and tried it out on his personal device. Keith said, “The case speaks for itself. I had it on my iPad for two years, and that’s what sold it to me and the district.” Not only was the case the best solution, but InfoCase was able to provide several employees to aid in the installation of over 5,300 cases that summer, which took three days. Keith mentioned, “We really appreciated InfoCase’s help. From start to finish, they were helpful and reliable.”

Result

Now, nearly two years later, the InfoCase Always-On Case for iPads has “proven itself to be a reliable and durable case.” Keith shared that at the end of the fourth year (May 2016) of EACS’ Blended Learning Initiative, damage rates were nearly 15%. However, at the end of the first semester in year five (December 2016), and the same semester InfoCase Always-On Cases were provided to students, damage rates were at 2.87% and dropping. Both students and teachers have had a positive reception to the cases and has proved to be a exceptional decision by the district.
